Australian donates 3.5 tonnes of PPE to the Maldives

The Government of Australia has donated 3.5 tonnes of personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Maldives to assist in efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The equipment was handed over to the Government of the Maldives at a ceremony held at Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka. The COVID-19 support provided to the Maldives from Australia now totals USD 572,925 including donations of PPE, capacity building for frontline workers, and support for women and girls.

Following the donation, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid expressed gratitude to the Australian government for the generous assistance, adding the donation will enhance capacity to identify and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
