Health Protection Agency (HPA) has banned large gatherings and social events for the upcoming Eid holidays.
In a press release, HPA urged citizens to comply with COVID-19 regulations when travelling to Male' City or the islands for the holidays. Noting the recent ease of restrictions due to the decreasing positive cases, HPA urged citizens to wear masks and to keep their distance from people outside one's own social bubble when celebrating the holidays. HPA banned holding large gatherings or events to celebrate the holidays, as well as events inviting residents from other islands, and sports events.
Furthermore, HPA urged citizens to comply with the COVID-19 guidelines at restaurants, cafés, shops, and parks. HPA also urged citizens to go to a flu clinic for testing immediately if they show signs of illness and to comply with COVID-19 regulations to avoid another wave of positive cases.
The government has eased travel restrictions due to the decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives.
