Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested two people who threatened to attack Mulee’aage, the official residence of the president.
Two people were apprehended by security forces in the morning of July 9 near Mulee’aage, after they claimed that the box they had been carrying had a bomb in it and threatened to blow up Mulee’aage. They were initially apprehended by officers of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) that had been guarding the residence of the president. They were later taken into custody by a special team from the Maldives Police Service (MPS), after searching their belongings.
It is reported that the two individuals arrested in relation to the incident were two local males. However, no further details have been provided by authorities.
