24-hour delivery services permitted in Male’ area

Ministry of Economic Development has permitted delivery services to be provided across 24 hours in the Greater Male’ Region.

Following the changes brought to COVID-19 restrictions effective from July 1, the economic ministry has published a new guideline for the operations of businesses. The ministry revealed for an initial period until July 8, retail shops, cafes and restaurants are permitted to operate with customers inside from 0400hrs until 2000hrs. The ministry said delivery services can be provided for 24 hours during this period, using the permits provided by the Maldives Police Service (MPS).

Furthermore, the economic ministry said staff of businesses can go outside during curfew hours for essential purposes using the Government/Company permit issued by MPS. Businesses which do not have this permit are required to obtain a miscellaneous permit using the online portal for police permits.

The economic ministry said following the changes announced on July 1, the ministry will no longer be involved in issuing permits for businesses. The ministry called on businesses, especially retail shops and food outlets, to operate within the guidelines set by Health Protection Agency (HPA).
