Education Ministry gets land plot to develop educational institution

Male' City Council has announced the decision to hand over the land plot which previously housed Ameer Ahmed School to the Ministry of Education for the development of an educational institute.

Speaking at a press conference held to disseminate information regarding efforts of the Male' City Council, Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said the land plot would be released for a period of 35 years to the education ministry. Muizzu revealed the decision was made upon a request from the President's Office and the education ministry. The council considered the benefits an educational institute will bring to the people of the capital city and to the country as a whole, he added.

The land plot initially used as Ameer Ahmed Pre-School and as Henveiru Ward Office currently houses a pre-school managed by Islanders Education Private Limited. The demands for school placements have increased over the years following the increase in families migrating to the Greater Male' region.
