Parliament passes a budget of USD 5.3 million for Auditor General’s Office

The Parliament of the Maldives has passed a budget of USD 5.3 million for Auditor General’s Office for 2021.

The 2021 budget for the Auditor General’s Office was passed with votes from 54 parliamentarians. The budget includes USD 3.7 million for recurrent and operational expenses, and USD 1.6 million for Public Sector Investment Programmes (PSIP).

The 2021 budget passed for the Auditor General’s Office exceeds the USD 3.1 million budget which had been passed for this year. However, it is lower than the budget of USD 6.8 million which had been proposed by the Auditor General’s Office based on the projected expenditure for next year.

The budget for the Auditor General’s Office is required to be passed separately from the State Budget. However, it must still be included as part of the State Budget.
