Speaker returns to Parliament sittings following end of quarantine

Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has returned to parliament sittings after completing the mandatory 14-day quarantine period following his unofficial trip to the UK.

As per the guidelines of the Health Protection Agency (HPA), all individuals returning from abroad must undergo a 14-day quarantine upon arrival. The individual must test negative from the exit sample before being released from quarantine.

Speaker Nasheed returned to the Maldives from the UK on September 22. He was released from quarantine on October 6, and has now rejoined parliamentary proceedings.

The sittings of the third parliamentary term of the year began on October 5. Two sittings have been held since resumption of parliamentary proceedings.
