Ministry of Finance has revealed nearly USD 78 million has been spent for COVID-19 relief efforts in the Maldives.
The weekly COVID-19 spending report publicised by the finance ministry revealed the total expenditure towards COVID-19 relief efforts as of September 3 stood at USD 77.93 million which is a 2.6% increase from the week before. As per the report, 51.4% of the expenditure was on providing health and social services amid the pandemic. Moreover, USD 1.3 million was disbursed as COVID-19 allowance for frontline workers within the past week.
The statistics showed about USD 130,000 was spent on procuring medical equipment such as test kits and personal protective equipment (PPE).
