Health Protection Agency (HPA) has decided to impose a fine of USD 320 on those who violate isolation and quarantine orders of the authority.
The new amendment to the regulations on isolation and quarantine states people who violate isolation orders will be subjected to a fine of USD 160 and USD 220 for the first and second time respectively. Every subsequent violation will result in a fine of USD 320.
The regulation further mandates Maldives Police Service (MPS) to implement the regulation and penalize individuals when necessary. In islands without a police station, the councils will take necessary actions against those who violate orders.
HPA has called on the public for cooperation in implementing the measures enforced to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the Maldives.
