Maldives extend condolences to Afghanistan over flash floods

Maldives has extended condolences and sympathies to the government and people of Afghanistan over devastating floods in Parwan Province, Afghanistan.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Abdulla Shahid sent a message of condolence to the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, Mohammad Haneef Atmar following the devastating floods. In the message, the minister said the news of the loss of lives and livelihoods, and destruction of homes caused by torrential rains and flash floods in Parwan province of Afghanistan was received with great sadness and sorrow.

The message noted the government and the people of Maldives extend profound condolences and sympathies to the government and the people of Afghanistan, at this time of tragedy, compounded by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. The minister also expressed deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved families.
