State Trading Organisation (STO) has donated a PCR machine to the forensic laboratory of Maldives Police Service (MPS) to conduct COVID-19 testing.
The donation of the Biorad CFX96 PCR machine was handed over to MPS by Managing Director of STO Hussain Amr. STO stated the machine was donated to MPS to increase the testing capacity of the forensic laboratory.
STO had also donated 2 PCR machines to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) on August 25, as part of efforts to increase the COVID-19 testing capacity of the Maldives. The company has also been assisting the installation of medical equipment in COVID-19 facilities established across the country.
The donation of a PCR machine to the forensic laboratory of MPS has come after the government decided to conduct PCR testing for tourists at the forensic laboratory. It is one of the five facilities which have been allocated to provide the service for tourists visiting the Maldives.
