The COVID-19 compliance audit of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has revealed the COVID-19 expenditure of the institution was in compliance with the Public Finance Act.
The compliance audit revealed MNDF allocated a budget of USD 1.1 million for COVID-19 expenses, of which USD 340,000 was spent. This includes USD 208,000 for refueling vessels, USD 41,400 for supplies, USD 1,720 for external services, USD 67,860 for repair and maintenance expenses and USD 20,000 for the collection of property.
The audit report stated the expenses were identified through the SAP accounts and the records of the audited institution. The report stated all expenses were undertaken in accordance to the Public Finance Act and the regulations of the Ministry of Finance.
The Auditor General’s Office is conducting a COVID-19 compliance audit on all state institutions and authorities, after the Parliament of the Maldives passed the proposal to conduct a financial audit of the expenses undertaken by the state to overcome the COVID-19 crisis.
