Parliamentary Committee on National Security and Foreign Relations has started reviewing the nomination for the Ambassador of the Maldives to Singapore.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has nominated Chief of Protocol at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ibrahim Shaheeb as the Maldivian Ambassador to Singapore. Shaheeb is a career diplomat serving in foreign ministry from 1991 onwards.
The foreign ministry revealed recently hired ambassadors to foreign countries are career diplomats rather than political appointees. Recently, the parliament regulations were amended mandating to interview nominations in the vetting process.
