Vice President meets Indian High Commissioner to discuss bilateral cooperation

Vice President Faisal Naseem has met with the High Commissioner of India to the Maldives, Sunjay Sudhir to discuss areas of bilateral cooperation between the Maldives and India.

During the meeting held at the President’s Office, Vice President Naseem conveyed felicitations on the 74th Independence Day of India, which occurred on August 15. The vice president noted India has always been at the forefront of helping the Maldives when confronting major challenges. As such, he highlighted the assistance India has provided to the Maldives during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, such as facilitating the travel of Maldivian patients to India for medical care under the Aasanda healthcare scheme.

The vice president and the high commissioner further discussed ongoing projects pertaining to various fields between India and the Maldives. The two also discussed possible areas for future bilateral cooperation.

Vice President Naseem and High Commissioner Sudhir concluded the meeting by remarking on the longstanding strong relationship between the Maldives and India, and expressing their mutual hope that these good ties will always remain intact.
