Ministry of Education has begun a series of meetings with schools to discuss challenges faced in continuing learning amidst COVID-19 pandemic.
The education ministry began the series of meetings by meeting with the teachers, parents and students of Centre for Higher Secondary Education. The ministry said the online meetings, which are held in collaboration with UNICEF, will focus on identifying the changes and challenges to learning due to COVID-19 pandemic. As such, the ministry said the meetings will assist the ministry in establishing necessary measures in an effort to continue education for school students.
The education ministry also used the opportunity to inform students on the problems which could arise due to learning losses caused by events such as the current pandemic. The ministry explained to students the various resources available in schools to cater to student needs. In addition to students and parents, teachers also used the opportunity to share their concerns with the ministry.
The ministry stated it intends to continue the meetings with all schools in the country as students, teachers and parents are faced with social, psychological as well as educational challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
