New Tourism Minister hopeful of seeing more locals in top positions

The newly appointed Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has stated his dream is to see more locals holding management and supervisory positions in the tourism sector.

Speaking at the launching ceremony of the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH) programme of England in the Maldives by Clique College, Minister Mausoom said the availability of such courses from prestigious institutions opens golden opportunities for locals. He said the introduction of the programme will produce more trained local supervisors and managers.

Speaking at the ceremony, President of Clique College Dr. Naushad Mohamed said the programme will be offered both online and face to face. He said completion of the newly introduced program at Clique will enable locals to travel to England and study for bachelor's degree in hospitality at major universities there.

All CTH programs offered at Clique College have been validated by the Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA) and students can complete the programme online while working. Dr. Naushad remarked part of the course fee will also be covered by the free degree programme announced by the government.
