President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated India remains a beacon of hope for the world over its democratic values and contributions to peace and progress. The president made the remarks in a tweet posted extending Independence Day greetings to India.
In his remarks, the president extended warmest felicitations to President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indian people on the occasion of Independence Day. Noting it has been 73 years since India began its tryst with destiny, the president praised the democratic values of India as well as its contribution to peace and progress.
Every year on August 15, India marks Independence Day celebrating the end of British rule in 1947 and the establishment of a free and independent Indian nation. The India-Maldives relations have experienced new growth since President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih assumed office.
