Parliament of the Maldives has opened the opportunity for the public to submit complaints against the individuals who applied for the vacant membership positions at Civil Service Commission (CSC).
The parliament received 41 applications for the four vacant membership positions at CSC. As part of the review process, the Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions has publicised the list of applicants and opened the opportunity for the public to submit any complaints regarding them. The complaints must be submitted before 0900hrs on August 16, with the full name and contact details of the individual submitting the complaint.
Four membership positions at CSC were vacated following the resignation of three members and the dismissal of one member by the parliament. The dismissal motion against President of CSC Aly Shameem and members Shaheed Mohamed, Zakariyya Hussain and Ibrahim Shaheeq was passed by the Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions after conducting an inquiry on their actions as CSC members. Shameem, Shaheed and Zakariyya resigned before the parliament scheduled the dismissal vote, while Shaheeq was removed with votes from 48 parliamentarians.
Fathimath Amira, who is the most recent appointment to the five-member commission, is the only remaining member at CSC.
