Parliament of the Maldives has announced it is seeking public opinion on the efforts of the Ministry of Health and the Health Protection Agency (HPA) regarding COVID-19 pandemic management in the country.
Parliamentary Committee on Social Affairs said it is gathering public opinion as part of research on how well the government has managed the situation. Opinion will also be collected on the current management of the situation and how future activities have been planned by the authorities. The public has been instructed to send opinions to the parliament in writing or via mail before 1400hrs on August 13.
The committee has also met with individuals who had worked previously in the sector to listen to their comments and concerns regarding the health sector. The individuals summoned include former Permanant Secretary at the health ministry Khadheeja Abdul Samad, former Health Worker Hafeeza Ali, Dr. Ishaq Shafeeq and other former health professionals.
The parliament previously held a public forum to gather opinion on proposed amendments to the Public Health Act.
