The President’s Office has opened applications to fill vacant membership positions at the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM).
In an announcement issued on August 9, the President’s Office stated application for the vacant membership positions at HRCM can be submitted from August 16-18, between 0930hrs and 1230hrs, to the President's Office’s. Application forms have been made available from the President's Office reception area during official hours, and can also be downloaded from the President's Office website.
Four membership positions at HRCM were vacated following the resignation of three members, Aminath Eenas, Aishath Afreen and Moosa Kaleyfaan, and the dismissal of Mohamed Zahid through a no-confidence vote at the Parliament of the Maldives. The parliament had launched a dismissal motion against all four members after conducting an inquiry their failure to fulfill their responsibilities in protecting basic human rights of vulnerable communities and in taking action against human rights violations in the country.
