Re-imposing lockdown not the best option: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated re-imposing a lockdown is not the best option, urging all citizens to take the required precautionary measures against COVID-19.

In a tweet highlighting the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the past few weeks, President Solih called on everyone to adhere to the precautionary measures announced by the authorities. He urged everyone to wear face masks when outside and to cooperate in the efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The administration has decided to fine individuals without masks in public by USD 65. Further, individuals are not allowed to be outdoors between 2300hrs and 0500hrs. In addition, the administration has also launched an inspection to monitor if business establishments are following safety guidelines.
