Maldives Civil Aviation Authority (MCAA) has published the operational regulations to be followed by airports and airlines upon reopening borders.
The regulations include the standard operational procedures to be followed by airports and airlines when borders reopen on July 15. As per the regulations, all tourists arriving in the Maldives after July 15 will receive on-arrival visa, although they are required to have a confirmation of reservation at a resort registered at the Ministry of Tourism. All tourists are also required to fill the health declaration form and hand it over to Maldives Immigration upon arrival.
Furthermore, the regulations include safety standards to be maintained by all airlines operating flights to the Maldives. As such, flight crew and passengers are required to wear masks at all times, with exceptions allowed for children under the age of 6 and individuals with health conditions that prevent them from being able to wear a mask. Passengers can remove their masks when food is served during the flight, while masks can also be removed with the permission of crew in special circumstances.
Meanwhile any COVID-19 symptoms detected from a passenger must be reported to the Border Control Health Desk and the hotline of the Health Protection Agency (HPA). Passengers departing from the Maldives are required to check and confirm the safety precautions and regulations set by their country of destination, prior to the departure. They must also report to HPA if any COVID-19 symptoms are found, or if they need to cancel a flight booking.
The regulations published by MCAA will come into effect on July 15.
