Ministry of Finance has revealed over USD 62 million has been spent towards COVID-19 related efforts so far.
The weekly COVID-19 spending report prepared by the finance ministry stated as of June 18, the amount spent on combatting the COVID-19 pandemic in the country increased by 2.17% compared to the previous week. USD 1.33 million was spent last week for COVID-19 related efforts, according to the weekly statistics.
The finance ministry revealed National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and Ministry of Health spent comparatively higher to its peers, in terms of week-on-week spending. Breaking down the expenses of these authorities, the finance ministry stated that during the past week NDMA spent a total of USD 597,560 for COVID-19 efforts, of which approximately 75.7% was on operational services.
Meanwhile, the finance ministry said the spending from both IGMH and the health ministry were primarily on the procurement of medical consumables. In this regard, over USD 29.57 million was spent on procuring medical consumables such as test kits, personal protective equipment (PPE) among others.
Moreover, the finance ministry added the expenditure on the procurement of medical consumables and on supplies and requisites increased by USD 630,036 and USD 454,665 respectively, compared to the week before.
