The US government has donated personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Maldives to assist the efforts in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
The donation was handed over by US Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives Alaina Teplitz to Maldivian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Umar Abdul Razzaq at a ceremony held at the Maldives High Commission in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The donation includes protective coverall, latex gloves, safety goggles and surgical gloves worth over USD 78,000. Ambassador Teplitz said the donation was provided to support frontline COVID-19 responders in the Maldives.
The government of the Maldives said it highly appreciated the continuous assistance by the US to combat COVID-19 pandemic.
