Ministry of Tourism has instructed tourist facilities to prioritise workers who lost their jobs amid the COVID-19 pandemic when resuming operations.
Several individuals working in the tourism sector have been dismissed, suspended or sent on no-pay leaves due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a circular sent to all tourist facilities in the Maldives, the tourism ministry has instructed the facilities to prioritise such individuals when resuming operations after borders reopen.
The Maldives has decided to reopen borders for international operations on July 15.
