The cabinet has held discussions on further easing temporary restrictive measures imposed in the Maldives due to COVID-19.
The cabinet held a meeting on June 24 pertaining to the ongoing procedures to further ease restrictive measures currently enforced due to COVID-19. The discussions focused on the ongoing preparations to reopen the Maldivian borders and welcome tourists from July 15 onwards. The cabinet also discussed the adjustments that all residents must make to their daily lives, as the country moves towards a new normal.
In the press conference held on June 23 to announce the decision to reopen borders on July 15, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced July will also witness the further easing of temporary restrictive measures. As such he noted prayers in congregation are expected to resume, students will return to classrooms, and restaurants and cafes will open for dine-in service.
