President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Abdulla Shareef as the Commissioner General of the Maldives Customs Service.
The new Commissioner General was presented his letter of appointment at a special ceremony held at the President's Office. Supreme Court Justice Aisha Sujoon Mohamed presided over the oath-taking component of the ceremony.
Abdulla Shareef had previously been serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Maldives Customs Service. He had served Maldives Customs Service for 27 years. Following his new appointment, he will be serving at the rank of a state minister.
Ahmed Shareef was appointed as the Commissioner General of Customs following the demise of Ahmed Nu'uman who was serving in the position. Nu'uman passed away at the age of 47 in a hospital in Bangalore, India, on April 7 after being ill for some time.
