President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Aminath Ameena as a member of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom).
The letter of appointment was handed over to Ameena by President Solih at a ceremony held at the President's office. The nomination to appoint Ameena to Broadcom was passed unanimously with votes from 63 parliamentarians.
Aminath Ameena completed her Master's Degree in Journalism and Media Communication from the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) and achieved her first degree in journalism from Maldives National University (MNU). Ameena most recently worked as a Senior Editor at VTV. Additionally, she is the recipient of two awards from the Maldives Media Council (MMC) celebrating excellence in journalism.
Broadcom, led by 7-members, is tasked with ensuring that broadcasters comply with the Broadcasting Act.
