Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated all individuals undergoing home quarantine are now required to report their health condition to HPA on a daily basis.
HPA has published a new Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) for individuals undergoing home quarantine after returning to the Maldives from abroad, or returning to their home islands from Male’ City. As per the new SOP, only individuals who have no COVID-19 like symptoms can be placed under home quarantine. They are also required to be placed in a separate room, away from others in the house.
The new SOP has also included some additional responsibilities for individuals undergoing home quarantine. As such, they are required to update their health condition to HPA on a daily basis through the designated online portal before 1400hrs every day. The daily information to be uploaded to the portal include body temperature and the general health condition of the individual. If any COVID-19 symptoms appear, they must report to the HPA hotline in Male’ or the healthcare focal point in the respective island.
Previously, HPA had announced the house allocated for home quarantine must not have any elderly people above the age of 60. However, the new SOP states elderly people can live in the house although strict physical distancing and personal safety measures must be imposed.
HPA began allowing home quarantine earlier this month. The first batch of individuals allowed to undergo home quarantine departed from Male’ City to Addu City on June 5.
