Travel between islands to resume from June 15

National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has decided to permit travel between islands from June 15 onwards.

Speaking at the daily press briefing held at the NEOC, Assistant Director at the Ministry of Health Aminath Shaina Abdulla said travel to and from the Greater Male' Region is still restricted, although the government has decided to permit transport amongst islands with no reported cases of COVID-19. She said all domestic airports will also open next week. She also said people can travel to and from the Greater Male' Region after attaining permits as the capital city has been the epicenter of COVID-19 in the country.

Since the lockdown announced in the Maldives, only essential travels between islands have been allowed between the islands.
