Government gazettes isolation and quarantine facility standards

The government of the Maldives has gazetted operating standards of isolation and quarantine facilities.

The standard titled “Regulation of Isolation and Quarantine Facilities” formulated under clause 94 of the Public Health Act details procedures and operational standards of such facilities, in addition to explaining services that must be available in the facilities. Additionally, the regulation also details the responsibilities of facility managers as well as when exemptions can be made.

As per the regulation, the Minister of Health is responsible for determining quarantine facilities considering services available at such facilities. Adequate medical equipment and supplies must be available at such facilities. Professional health care providers, security officers and a facility manager must also be available.

Moreover, the regulation requires the Director General at HPA to formulate standard operating procedures of such facilities within two months from the date it is gazetted.
