President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced the decision to reopen government offices from May 31 until June 11 to carry out essential work.
The President’s Office stated government offices have been instructed to reopen during the said period on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays to attend to pending essential work. However, the offices will not be open to offer services that require direct contact with the public.
President Solih has instructed ministers to present the least required number of staff for work during the period. Additionally, offices have been permitted to carry essential work outside office hours if necessary.
The President’s Office further instructed offices to communicate to Health Protection Agency (HPA) the nature and details of the work deemed essential and get approval from HPA. Additionally, offices that can allow staff to work from home have been instructed to continue managing work from home, and offer service online as much as possible.
