Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed 26 Maldivians stranded in Thailand have arrived back in the Maldives. The locals were repatriated by the national airline, Maldivian, and will undergo a 14-day stay quarantine period.
People who are stranded oversees and want to return to Maldives have been instructed to register either at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or at one of its diplomatic missions abroad. The government has previously repatriated stranded Maldivians in Malaysia, Sri Lanka and India.
The administration is also making arrangements to repatriate expatriates in Maldives. As such, Indian, Bangladeshi, Thai and other nationals have been given Immigration clearance to return home.
Additionally, over 1,300 Bangladeshi workers have also been repatriated in efforts to repatriate undocumented expatriate workers in the country.
