The cabinet has held discussions on easing restrictions imposed in the Maldives due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The discussions were held during a virtual cabinet meeting held on May 21. This was the first virtual meeting held by the cabinet amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the meeting, members of the cabinet deliberated upon measures which can be taken to gradually ease restrictions imposed in the Maldives due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The cabinet also discussed on plans to rebuild the country after the devastating economic impact of the pandemic on the Maldives.
During the meeting, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih acknowledged and appreciated the tireless efforts of ministries to help the country overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, the ministers highlighted the immediate and effective measures put in place under the instructions of the president, which has helped to control the spread of COVID-19 in the Maldives.
