Two Chinese companies have donated medical supplies to the Maldives to assist the efforts to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.
The donation of medical supplies by two Chinese companies was confirmed by a tweet from the Ambassador of China to the Maldives Zhang Lizhong. In his tweet, the ambassador revealed Tellhow International Engineering and Contracting Company has donated 200,000 face masks to the Maldives to assist community-wide efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19. In addition, the ambassador revealed China Machinery Engineering Cooperation (CMEC) has donated personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline workers serving at ADK Hospital.
Chinese companies have also been assisting the Maldives in COVID-19 related infrastructure development. As such, Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG) and China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) have been assisting the development of quarantine facilities and temporary shelters in Hulhumale'.
Meanwhile, the Chinese government has also donated medical supplies such as surgical masks, gloves, stethoscopes, goggles and PPE to the Maldives.
