The High Commission of Pakistan in the Maldives has revealed 43 Pakistani nationals have been repatriated from the Maldives.
The high commission said 43 individuals were repatriated to Pakistan via an evacuation flight of Sri Lankan Airlines. They will be quarantined for 14 days upon arrival in Lahore, Pakistan.
Pakistani High Commissioner Vice Admiral Retired Ather Mukhtar, Deputy High Commissioner Zulqarnain Ahmed and other senior officials of the high commission went to Velana International Airport (VIA) to see off the departing individuals. The departing individuals were provided with N95 masks, gloves and sanitisers to be used during the trip.
The Pakistani high commission extended its gratitude to the government of the Maldives for facilitating the repatriation of the Pakistani nationals, adding efforts are underway to repatriate more Pakistanis stranded in the Maldives.
The COVID-19 cases detected in the Maldives include 3 Pakistani nationals. Although one of them has been undergoing treatment at Dharumavantha Hospital, all three are in stable condition.
