131 Thai nationals repatriated on Maldivian flight

The government of Maldives has repatriated 131 Thai nationals to their home country via the national airline, Maldivian.

The Thai nationals stranded in the Maldives due to the COVID-19 pandemic were repatriated on a chartered flight of Maldivian, which was arranged by the Thai Consulate in the Maldives and the Maldivian Embassy in Thailand. This was the second repatriation flight operated to Thailand, with the first flight repatriating 55 Thai nationals on April 16.

The government has been arranging modes of travel for foreigners stranded in the Maldives as well as locals stranded abroad. Two more repatriation flights are scheduled to depart from the Maldives on May 5 and May 8, operated by Turkish Airlines and SkyUp Airlines respectively.

Ministry of Tourism has requested passengers travelling on these flights to seek the required permit to travel to Velana International Airport (VIA).
