Ministry of Tourism has requested passengers travelling from Rossiya Airlines to apply for the permits required to travel to Velana International Airport (VIA).

The tourism ministry said Rossiya Airlines passenger flight FV/SDM 6266 is scheduled to depart from the Maldives on April 29, while its cargo flight SM2051/2 is scheduled to depart on April 30. The ministry requested passengers travelling on these flights to seek the permit to make arrangements to travel to the airport.

The ministry said only authorised vehicles are currently allowed to travel to the airport. The ministry requested passengers to ensure they are carrying their tickets and other important documents when travelling to the airport.

Rossiya is an airline based in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The airline will be evacuating tourists and expatriate workers stranded in the Maldives following the lockdown imposed due to the spread of COVID-19.
