President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has conveyed condolences to the family of the late Commissioner General of Customs Ahmed Numan following his demise.
The president spoke on the phone with the family and expressed that he was deeply saddened by the news and extended heartfelt sympathy and sincere condolences to the members of the family. The president expressed the news was received with shock and sadness. He emphasised on the countless services Ahmed Numan rendered to the government and especially to the Maldives Customs Service. He also extended well wishes and prayers.
Numan passed away at the age of 47 in a hospital in Bangalore, India, on April 7 after being ill for some time. Numan had been appointed as the Commissioner General of Customs on December 11, 2018. The appointment was made at ministerial rank.
Numan began serving the country on June 29, 1991. Some of the positions he held include Radio Technician at Maldives Airports Authority, Assistant Director at State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) and Chairman at Fenaka Corporation Limited.
