Speaker asks parliamentarians to work closely with constituents

Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has stated all parliamentarians must work closely with their constituents during these difficult times. The speaker made the remarks inaugurating the first ever parliament sitting held via web conference.

Although sittings were temporarily halted due to the situation of COVID-19 pandemic in Maldives, the parliament decided to resume the sittings via web conference. Speaking at the first sitting held via web conference, the parliament speaker said it is mandatory for the parliamentarians to work closely with their constituents as they are the representatives of the people.

Nasheed advised the parliamentarians to respect and listen to complaints of all constituents in this delicate situation. He noted stringent measures are taken by the government to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in Maldives, urging all parliamentarians to cooperate with the efforts.
