PPM launches campaign for local council elections

The main opposition party, Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has launched its campaign for the local council elections.

The party held its campaign launching event in Male' City, unveiling the candidates who will contest from the party in the upcoming elections.

PPM also launched its manifesto for the council elections, with five main policies. The policies include protecting Islam, defending the independence of the country, increasing wealth of citizens, promoting a peaceful and stable life and establishing effective local councils.

During the event, candidates of PPM contesting for mayoral positions shared their vision and policies for development. The candidates also assured they will not obstruct the development efforts of the administration, adding they will only pressure the administration to bring progress and development to the islands.

A large number of PPM supporters attended the campaign event, which was held in Alimas Carnival.
