Vice President Faisal Naseem has assured the administration will work with relevant stakeholders to address the concerns raised by Ungoofaaru Island Council. The vice president made the remarks at a meeting held with members of the island council as part of his visit to Ungoofaaru, Raa Atoll.
At the meeting, the councillors shared major concerns and priorities of their constituents, in addition to updates of ongoing and planned development projects for the island. Discussing further, the councillors raised the concern over problems with quality-maintenance currently faced while conducting development projects.
The councillors highlighted concerns of residents regarding the school building project, road development project and upgrading the mosque in the island. They also raised concerns over beach erosion and scarcity of water supply in the island.
During the meeting, Vice President Naseem noted the main objective behind regional visits such as these are to see and understand the situations of the communities and trying to fulfil the needs of the people. The vice president also strongly urged the councillors to collaborate with their constituents in implementing the Child Protection Act and work towards achieving societal harmony. He further urged them to work in collaboration with their constituents to improve their lives and livelihoods by spreading awareness on healthy lifestyles and to work towards achieving social harmony.
During his visit to the island, Vice President Naseem also met with members of Raa Atoll Council and visited Ungoofaaru School and Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital.
