Tourism Ministry establishes a help desk at VIA

Ministry of Tourism has established a help desk in Velana International Airport (VIA) to assist tourists and tour operators amidst the worldwide outbreak of coronavirus.

The tourism ministry said the status of the coronavirus outbreak and its effects on the tourism sector are being closely monitored, adding a help desk has now been established to assist tourists and tour operators at VIA. The ministry said a situation monitoring unit has also been established to assess the situation of tourists in Maldives and to take necessary action.

Following the rapid outbreak of coronavirus, direct flights from China to Maldives have been temporarily stopped. Screening facilities have also been established in all ports of the country to identify individuals that may be carrying the virus.
