ECM reveals 136 complaints have been submitted to the voters’ list so far

Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has announced 136 complaints have been received to the voters’ list of the upcoming local council elections.

Speaking at the national advisory committee on elections, Vice President of ECM Ahmed Akram stated 136 complaints have been received to the list that was published on January 20. Noting complaints can be submitted until January 31, Akram said voters must ensure they submit any complaints regarding a change of name or address within this period.
ECM has stated voters would only be required to re-register if they plan to vote at a different location from where they voted in the parliamentary elections last April. ECM said the commission is working on finalising a voters’ list with minimal errors before the election.

ECM has also revealed over 6,000 officials are required for the administrative operations of the election, noting efforts are underway in collaboration with relevant authorities to seek officials for the election. The local council elections will be held on April 4.
