MDP opens opportunity to submit candidacies for LCE2020

The main ruling party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has opened opportunity to submit candidacies for the upcoming Local Council Elections 2020.

Candidacies can be submitted by January 10, the final voters list will be finalised and published on January 15 and the primary will be held on January 31, according to the timeline publicised by MDP.

MDP said primaries will be held if more than one candidate are competing for a given seat, adding only members who have signed for the party before December 31 can vote in the primaries.

Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has scheduled to hold the local council elections on April 4, 2020.
