Environment Ministry urges public to save rain water for the dry season

Ministry of Environment has urged the people in remote islands to save rain water since the days ahead will lead to soaring temperatures of heat.

The Environment Ministry advised the public to use the opportunity of the rain to save water before the rainy season ends and months of extreme heat begins. The ministry stated such measures are important since many islands in Maldives experience drinking water shortage in the hot season.

In order to find a solution for water shortage in islands, the Environment Ministry is working on setting up water tanks in 25 islands under its Green Climate Fund (GCF). The ministry suggests communities and individuals to prepare and take measures to ensure islands do not run out of water during the dry season.
