The leadership of the opposition coalition has met with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The president met with the opposition coalition comprising of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and People's National Congress (PNC) upon their request. No further details of the meeting were disclosed.
The meeting was held at a time the opposition leader, former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom is imprisoned after being convicted of money laundering. On November 28, Criminal Court sentenced Yameen to 5 years in prison with a fine of USD 5 million, after he was found guilty of the money laundering charges the state had pressed against him.
