The newly appointed Prosecutor General (PG) Hussain Shameem has stated the aim is to make PG Office a reliable, efficient and just institution.
In a tweet following the appointment, Shameem appreciated the parliament for trusting him with the tasks of the PG. He assured to do his absolute best to perform the responsibilities.
During the interview held at Parliamentary Committee on Judiciary, Shameem answered he applied to become the PG to ensure the office is transparent and independent. Noting there are several cases delayed at the PG, Shameem assured to seek a solution for the issue.
Hussain Shameem holds a Master of Laws in Criminal Law and Criminal Justice from the University of Sussex in UK, and a Bachelor of Arts in Shari'a and Law from the Al-Azhar University in Egypt. He was appointed as PG on December 8.
