President’s Office has revealed three individuals applied for the vacant position of Prosecutor General (PG).
The three applicants include renowned lawyer and former Deputy PG Hussain Shameem, former PG Aishath Nihaayath and lawyer Ahmed Zaneen.
The position of PG was vacated when former PG Aishath Bisham resigned from the position on November 28. Bisham resigned after the Parliamentary Committee on Judiciary had begun the process of removing her from the position.
In a statement issued to announce her resignation, Bisham said the motion by the Parliamentary Committee on Judiciary to dismiss her was insincere and unacceptable.
