Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) has appointed Yumna Maumoon and Aminath Nadira as interim Vice Presidents.
Yumna Maumoon, daughter of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and founder of the party, nominated herself to the slot of vice president designated for women. Nadira, whose name was nominated by a member of the party, won the position after competing with Hassan Sameeh with a difference of 25 votes. The constitution of MRM states 50 percent of the positions have to be allocated for women.
Meanwhile, Abdul Aleem was appointed as Secretary General of the party. The new appointees will remain in their posts until a party convention is held.
